Volunteers Needed for Tree Planting at Root River Tract

It's a Tree-A-Palooza!  Volunteers Needed!

What: Work on restoration of the floodplain forest habitat at the Root River tract. Forester Andy Beebe is looking for some helpers to plant 200 potted plants and 1,000 bare root plants in early Nov. 3r

When: Fri., Nov. 3rd, 8am - 4pm (a half day commitment would be great!). If interested in volunteering, please contact Katie Julian by Nov. 1st at katherine_julian@fws.gov, (608) 779-2391 

Where: Root River Tract off Highway 26 south of La Crescent - look for a USFWS truck on the east side of the road that will show you where to turn in to enter the tract.

What to Wear:  Closed toed shoes and long pants are required. Layers are always recommended in our unpredictable weather!

What to Bring:  Please bring a lunch and a water bottle -- we'll have extra water and Gatorade on site. Sunscreen and a hat are encouraged!  We'll have shovels and gloves available.
